The Internet of Things

To be honest, I have no clue what this is, I have heard of it, and I keep hearing it, and I am even sure I am using it, because 'everything is connected', but to what exactly? I am yet to figure it out.


So this week I will be exploring more about this topic, because if one thing I know for sure, the people behind IoT, are defining the future.



So what is the Internet of Things?


The idea behind the IoT is essentially this: it’s not just computers that can be hooked up to the internet, but physical devices, vehicles, buildings, etc, as well – all of which are embedded with sensors and connected to a network.

It is important to mention that this is a market poised to reach $276 billion annually by 2020.


How did it all begin?

It starts with Kevin Ashton, Procter & Gamble and a lipstick. Ashton, the man who coined the term 'Internet of Things' was working at Procter & Gamble. He realized that computers could be smarter,




So why is it revolutionary?

But IoT is also revolutionising manufacturing and medical devices, reimagining cities, and helping us discover worlds beyond our solar system.



But, is it safe?
